After reading reports about not trying to change ph levels in water, I have been looking at what are correct for my area, 7.6.

Suprisingly quite a lot of reviews don't include the recommended ph level. Where they do it is normally a range, so 6.5 to 7.5.

Where fish are classed as hardy, and a level is not stated does that mean they are happy (not just survive) in a full range?

Most hardy fish can thrive at different PH levels, although whether it's thriving or just surviving depends on the fish. Mollies for example, are considered hardy and can survive at all PH levels, but are disease-prone in acidic PH.

7.6 isn't exactly off the charts, as long as the fish is acclimated and the PH steady, most will do fine.

yeah pretty much, i've kept all sorts of tropicals at 7.5 and never had problems because of it. I think for most 'standard' community fish that would be absolutely fine
