How do you feed the corys and what?

Whatever I put in the tank for them is eaten up by the betta before it has chance to sink  This obviously aint good as the bettas ending up very fat and the corys are going without.

I tried a sinking pellet but they didn't show any interest in it.

Keep trying one kind of food to get them used to it. My corys used to ignore sinking and now they are there is seconds.

Also feed corys about an hour or so after turning all the lights out. The betta should have calmed down for sleep time and the corys will get a chance to forage for the food. My corys never seem to sleep. I can pop a pellet in at 2am and they still get to it, lol.

I feed my corys Tetra prima granules and Hikari tropical sinking wafers. They ignored the wafers to begin with, but now eat them readily, and they have always liked the granules. Both foods drop straight to the bottom, and although my betta will eat them, there's always plenty left for the corys and loaches. Just keep trying them and they will eventually catch on that it's food. They also like blood worm occasionally, and you can just drop this near them so your betta doesn't get it first.

I feed mine p@h's catfish pellets, just got hikari's sinking wafers that im going to try them on.
Ive had no problem with my betta (sherbert) getting to the food first lol, mb you just picked a greedy betta lol

I feed mine tetra sinking wafers at night

Admittedly I have found a couple of my boys bloated in the morning after though

Will try feeding them tonight then as I switch off the lights.

Cheers peeps!

I feed the corys algae wafers, the betta will go for it aswell but there's always some left over for the corys. A few times the corys have bitten the bettas tail thinking its a wafer so maybe that'll learn him to steal their food...

Hi Big_eyes :)

There's no need to worry about feeding them separately. Your betta will thrive on the same food corys eat. Mine do.

To feed flake food, just take a pinch between your fingers and put your hand down into the water. Then give it a flick downward. Some of the bits will float up before sinking and your betta will eat what he can. The rest will settle down for the corys.

The same is true with defrosted bloodworms. I use a fork for handling them, but the same trick works. Get them as far down in the water as you can and flick them toward the bottom.

I like Hikari Sinking Wafers too. Put one (or break it in half) in the tank just before you turn your lights off. Corys are active at night and will be able to eat it at their leisure. If anything remains in the morning, just remove it and feed them less next time. :D

My betta who lives with corys doesn't seem to bother with the catfish pellets I put in... he does go after the Tetra Prima mini granules though, but as they sink pretty quickly my corys get their fill while the betta is faffing about with the bits that are floating.
