ok well ive never been on the marine forum before so dont blame me if i sound stupid asking stupid questions.
i was at my lfs today and realised how nice marine fish acctuallu are. the colours, the shapes, the way they are. its just all beautiful!
i really would like to have a marine tank so i was wondering what i would need and what do people say you need but i can manage without? because it sounds pretty expensive.
theres also alot of things i have no idea about. such as a skimmer. or a sump. :look: waaaaaaaaah?

also, is it possible to have an internal filter in a marine tank? or is this just stupid?
i have no idea about marine tanks so pleeeeeeeeease would someone help me lol

thanks

Here's what you will need:

1. a skimmer (this is what filters the water in a marine system)
2. a source of RO water (could buy a RO unit or see if your LFS sells RO water)
3. lighting (if you want to keep corals in your tank your freshwater lighting wont be good enough)
4. powerheads (where a freshwater system pumps your total water volume about once every hour you are looking for 20 to 30 times you volume to pump around in a marine setup)
5. a clean tank (if you ever used medications in your tank you should get a new one, saltwater life doesn't like copper)
6. heating (same as used in freshwater setups)
7. marine salt
8. live rock (this is where the bacteria that break down the ammonia grow)

thats about it for a basic setup.

I know close to nothing about this. So corals aren't the same as live rock?
