I commonly find myself researching through multiple sources, and still needing closure from experienced hobbyists. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to "over check," (if you properly filter through results). The main reason we find ourselves doing this is because of multiple (varying) answers, or just because you don't trust your own judgment being newer to it. Multiple sources can lead to confusion when receiving varying answers. Sometimes experience is the best way to go. But, don't be afraid to make your own judgement calls, as we live and learn! It is intimidating and does suck when things fail, but we all do from time to time. The pros had to fail and pick up at different points too, and still will! Don't get overwhelmed and keep going! Most the time we're overwhelmed just because our fear to fail. Dont fear to fail, because then you fear to grow! Do you're best and your best will show. If your best is trash, then you just suck.. lol, just playin, keep at it and you'll make it with happy aquariums!! :D 🐠💙

I always figure I do my research to be able to discuss a fish (or anything else). Sometimes, I get answers, sometimes I get more questions. Once you find a circle of people who approach things the same way, then you can exchange info and experiences.
This hobby is like most things - once you've gotten interested you quickly learn the questions to ask. You have to get past the phase where you think you have all the answers first. You'll have many from your researching, and you have to have confidence in that. But every answer just expands the range of possible questions.

I always prefer to ask because it’s my specific scenario that I can describe personally. But somethings are just as easily researched aswell
