I have a 10.5 gallon tank. And I think I have to many fish in there. Can someone tell me? The fish I have are:

6 neons
3 cat fish
2 guppies
2 ballon mollies
1 black molly

can some one help me please!

:good:

Just a few too many. Rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon (based on adult size).

Yeh. The weird thing is that they are getting along fine. None of the are stressed or anything. Its been like this since monday and the are getting along in a nice little community. When i next get payed im going to invest in a better filter and maybe a 3ft tank.

Thank you for ya help :good:

So that means for a 10 gallon tank, you can get 10 fish which when adults become 1 inch in size.

Are the cat fish cories and if so what kind? You are a tad overstocked, though not extremely so unless those catfish are one of the larger varieties. I wouldn't keep mollies in a tank that small, not to mention they ought to be in brackish water, but other than that and a better ID on the catfish, it looks good.

That's probably because they arent adults yet. Too many fish in a small tank can cause high levels of nitrate. That is what stresses them. Plus they won't have enough room to swim.

Ah ok. Well yeh my catfish are corys. But ive looked everywere and i cant get a possative ID on them. I'll post some pics up as soon as i get one that isent blurry. As for the mollies ive been thrying to decide on what to do with them for a week now. My black molly male was attacking my ballon molly male when he first entered the tank but i put that down to the black molly loosing the female and he wanted the ballon molly female to breed with. but now hes ok with them both and just hangs around with them.

Corys should be fine, hopefully you have one of the dwarf species. If you have hard water with a high pH in your area, your mollys should do alright in freshwater, though it would still be best to give them their own larger brackish tank.

you're a lil overstocked there . I'd say get rid of the mollies. They need either brackish or extremely clean water. Since the corys dun like salt then you need to keep the water really clean and you do have a little too many fish. If you have one female guppy and one male the male will harass the female as they breed like crazy! so if you get rid of the mollies you can get another female.
