I am currently setting up a new 10 gallon tank with my gravel from my established aquarium, as well as the filter & Water.....Here is what I was thinking as far as fish go:

1 Tri color Platy
2 Albino Corys (Quite small still)
2 Black Mollys
1 White cloud minnow

Is this to full? Or will it be ok? I know it's a new tank but I am hoping the cycled water, gravel and filter will help a bit...

Thanks!!!

that should be good, although I don't think the WCMM would be able to live there... aren't they supposed to be kept in groups and in cool water? Lets see with the inch per gallon rule...
2 mollys-6 inches
1 platy-2 inches
2 corys-about 4 inches
you'd be a little overstocked, but I wouldn't worry if you did water changes about twice a week :)

Thanks!

Well the White cloud minnow has been living in my 38 gallon heated tank by itself for a few months now, The pet store gave him to me by accident and I just recently found out what he was!

Cory cats in a sense like to school and you should have at least 6 of them ;). Mollies do best in brackish conditions, whereas cory cats do not. White clouds also school, so at least 6-need to be together. Also, Cory cats need a minimum of 20 gallons to be comfortable. Not trying to put you down, just trying to help :good:. Can you get a 29-gallon? Hope this helps!

rarefish

Almost forgot- 1" fish per gallon; in a 10-gallon what you already have will be too full.

The 1" of fish per gallon excluding the tail is a rule of thumb. Does that therefore mean that one could put a 10" fish in a 10 gallon tank? Of course not. Rules of thumb are just that and in a lot of cases are very misleading. The specific requirements of the species must be a significant part of the consideration relative to determination of a stocking plan. Additionally there must be consideration given to the relative compatibility of the fishes to be stocked.
