Hi, I have my female crowntail in a 2.5 to 3 gallon critter keeper, I got her about a month ago and there were 2 other female crowntails there, well I went into my LFS the other day and one of her sisters is still there, I'm tempted to divide my girls critter keeper with those D-I-Y dividers and get her sister thats in my LFS. Would this be ok, normally I wouldnt but they are both very small, about an inch each. Should I get that beautiful sister of my female? And yes It is the same one because she has very stand out features and Jim only stocks males and there was a mess up at the fish farm and they sent females.

You kinda could of started this question in your other thread :/ but if you think you can divide it properly and not come running back saying its broken lol do it..

OK, I'm gonna see about making a D-I-Y divider.

I wouldn't, for two reasons. First, if the critter keeper is only 2 1/2-3 gallons, it won't leave the fish enough room each. I think less than 2 gallons is okay if it's very temporary, but other than that, I think it's too small. Even if the fish themselves are small now, they probably are just young and will eventually grow to normal size.

Second, I'm not a fan of divided tanks. I have a couple of them myself but they're for male VTs (aren't the best jumpers) and the tanks are large enough that I can keep the water level down a few inches so they can't jump over. Because of their short fins, females are much more able to jump a divider, and the tank is too small to keep the water level down far enough.

If you want her that bad, I say just get another tank...

Yea, I fixed up a divider out of that mesh stuff and 10 minutes later I came back up to my room and my female had already gotten over it so I think I may just get another tank or something.

I dont see how you made a divider so quickly... silicone takes 48 hours to completely dry and seal :/ unless you didnt us it, in that case it wouldnt be too strong unless it was Joby's Method :S

Yea, I used Jobys method, I'll probably just shop around for a cheap tank.
