hi
i live in a upstairs flat(apartment)and have numerous fish tanks all over the place, anyway i was looking at a juwel 450 the other day and was wondering if my floor would hold it?you guys always give good advice so whatever you say goes :D :D so what do you think, the building is about 50 years old i already have a 180 litres and it holds that so what do you think of a 450 litre plus the cabinet??
remember what you guys say goes,so if you say yes i get it tomorrow if you guys say no then i dont get it at all..

That one might be iffy. thats tank with water alone will weigh well over 1000 LBS, plus the cabinet. I would ask your landlord on how the floor is built. He might have a better idea

You need to know if the floor is constructed of concrete or timber joists. If the floor is concrete then there will be no problem, i have over 400 gallons of water in one room of a 1st floor flat. If the floor is timber joists and floor boards then you will need to ensure that the tank is close to a supporting wall (internal) and is positioned to cover as many joists as possible (joists running under the tank this way !!!!!!! not this way ===== ). When you consider that the average sized man weighs around 170 pounds would you feel comfortable having 6 full grown men standing in the space the tank would occupy?
