Ive had the skimmer running on my tank for about 3 weeks now and all was fine until the start of the week then i knowtised it was spewing water out of the water outlet pipe via a breather hole. It done this when it first turned on in the morning so i turned the pump off that powers the skimmer and checked to see what the problem was and i couldnt see anything.
So i plugged it back in and it instantly started overflowing the collection cup and filling it up in about 5 seconds and the water level guage was only 1/4 open.
I have fitted a piece of airhose to the breather hole on the water outlet pipe so that when it when it starts pushing water out from it ( which it shouldnt) it goes straight into the tank.
I have adjusted the pump so its only half open and still when u first turn it on it spews water into the collection cup and after a few mins it settles to its normall operating level. Whereas before the pump was fully open and it would turn on and fill the collar in the collection cup half way and operate perfectly fine all day long.
i havnt changed a single thing on the skimmer up until it started playing games with me so have no idea what it may be.
