Well today I found out that i have a huge LFS close to my home. Anyway I was told that TLC for Fresh Water aquariums helps cut high Amonia and nitrate levels down and Promote good Bacteria growth. Is This true?

Never heard of that... another bottle of "snake oil" I predict. From what I can see on google, its a bacteria starter or similar.
Fish shops are there for MONEY nothing more, ask them for some free media to seed your new tank - see what they say...

I figured so...and i did ask for some gravel they said it wouldn't help because as soon as it got in my water and my filter the bacteria would die??? lol

Mmmmmm, not very encouraging is it ?

Provided it has a food source - ammonia - then it may help a little, far better to get them to squeeze some "gunk" from a sponge filter into a bag for you - ANY half decent shop should do this, simply pour this disgusting soup into the tank near the filter and it will be sucked into your media... but dont forget that food !

This will bring the cycle down to DAYS !

Today i ran a test on this TLC stuff and its very high in nitrites over 200ppm and the Amonia is 0ppm. What does that mean.
