Hi,

I'm hoping for a few ideas/recommendations. I've had my tank running now for a couple of years and its done great. Up until i had a mini disaster with the death of my filter and dead fish. The result after cleaning up lost me a few more fish. All has calmed down now and I am looking to make an addition to the family.

What i have now is a 64L tank. 5 Neon Tetras, 3 Harlequin Rasboras, 3 Rummy Nose Tetras, 2 Congo frogs, 2 Julii Cories, 2 Sterbai Corries & 2 Ancistrus.

I've had some guppies which have now passed and im looking at something top'ish dwelling. The African Butterfly is intriguing me. Any experience with these? is it possible to not feed them bugs does anyone know?

Another thing I would like is a few new mid dwellers to mix in with the Rasporas, I just worry that I would overpopulate by doing so.

Any suggestions are very welcome!

(apologies if i am in the wrong section here btw :))

Your tank would need to have a large surface area as they stay at the top. Also your smaller fish wont last long as it will eat any fish it can fit in its mouth, and you will need a lid on the tank as they can jump out.

You can feed a varied diet of live and frozen foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp, prawn, small mealworms etc. Most specimens will also accept flake, but this should not form the basis of the diet. The fish feed only from the surface.

I haven't kept them but I have seen them for sale in Pets At Home shops

Your tank appears to be overstocked as it is, but each species is understocked. All the fish you have listed should be in groups of 6+ (although I don't know about Congo frogs). I think you'd have better luck posting this in the Tropical Discussion section. This is for new tank setups.

It is very close to overstocked but what worries me is that you appear to have a pick & mix tank, lots of different fish but not enough of each species.

Tertas do best in groups of 6+.
Corys do best in groups of 6+.
Rasoboras, yep you guessed it, do best in groups of 6+.

What type of Ancistrus do you have?

As i said. I lost fish through the problem i mentioned. Hence the random number of species.
Great advice though. Thanks.
