I've been having problems in one of my tanks.. I would put them in at night, and in the morning when I woke up they would be dead and covered in white slime I guess it was.. None of the fish were new, they were just put in from other tanks.

I treated the tank with pimafix, and did probably 10 30% water changes within the last 2 weeks. (only a pleco was in the tank for the 2 weeks)..

The ph was low yesterday, got it up to around 6.8 today with water changes.

No nitrites.

I tested ammonia yesterday, and there was a small amount, so I did a 50%, and a 30% today, then added 4 silver dollars.

They've been in there for about 15 minutes, and I'm already noticing the tips of their fins are white.. It's not fungusy, there's just white on the tips of all fins. Tail, anal, dorsal, and the 2 side swimming fins.

I'm not sure if I should take them out now and put them back in the other tank, or leave them in there and see what happens.

Anyone experience anything like this.

I had to take them out.. they were looking horrible.. hiding behind the filter and freaking out..

I'm sick of this tank!! I guess I'm going to have to do a total nuking of the tank. Oh well.. I have filter media from other tanks, and I've got a few convicts I can use to help build up the cycle, so I guess in a few weeks I SHOULD be back to having a problem free tank.

It doesn't sound like that...

Symptoms: frayed fins, sluggishness, dulled coloration, damaged gills, and even death.

The fins aren't frayed, they're not really sluggish or dull.. and their gills look fine..

It's just when they wake up, they seem to be slimey.. maybe all fish are slimey after being dead in a tank for 12 hours, I'm not really sure.

I don't know, but it doesn't matter anymore, as I put the silver dollars in another tank, and I'm doing a total nuke job on the tank.. Filters will be cleaned, gravel will be cleaned, tank will be scrubbed, all ornaments will be cleaned, heater cleaned.. everything is going to be cleaned.

Then I'm going to seed the filters with filter media from other tanks, and put 2 convicts in the tank to help with the cycle.

I wouldn't as you will be passing the desease onto another tank if the fish have something wrong with them.

I've moved fish before from this death tank back to other tanks and never had problems.. The silver dollars fins were back to normal within about 30 mins of being in another tank..

I turned the filters off last night, unplugged everything, and today the purge begins.

Wow that fast, good, yes strip the tank down, done it myself a few times so don't envy you, alot of hard work. Good luck.
