I have noticed many tiny white worms in my angel fish tank. they move like ribbons. Can anybody tell me what they are and how to get rid of them??

without seeing them id guess at tubifex worms or something similar

Planaria probably, they are harmless, its just a sign of excess food in your tank. I would just increase your water changes and feed a little less. Then they should decrease in number or go away. They are harmless though, and many fish will even eat them.

If you vaccuum your gravel a few days in a row they should disappear.. if that doesn't work, I've heard adding salt helps kill them.

Planaria , I agree , you can reduce the numbers by feeding less , and by doing more frequent water changes with gravel vacume [ it's been said in the above replies ]........most likely they [ some]will always be present in your tank ...........part of the eco system , unsightly , but harmless ......smaller fish will eat them .

do a search on "planaria" , see if they look like what you have .....if so ..........really no that much to worry over ...

thanks guys! i noticed them when i was about to clean up their tank. added some salt and dont see them anymore. :good:

btw, these fish wont eat anything unless it falls to the ground. so unless its flakes, which im out of right now and no way of getting to the store, they wont eat. i have been giving them cichlid pellets but they float, so they wait all day untill they sink to eat.
