in my big tank...only a big catfish in there..just cleaned filter out and got loads of snails out by hand..then we noticed tiny white things on glass...look like tiny sea urchins  I squashed a lot but has anyone got an idea of what they are please? There were different sizes and they were definitely only on inside of glass not swimming about.

Hydra? If so they are harmless unless you have fry or are rearing live food such as daphnia, otherwise they will eat single celled animals in the water :good:. If you go out to a pond in the summer and pick out stone, piece of wood or leave or something you will find some. They are related to anemones and you can see the relation :) . If they are not hydra, describe them and i'll tell you what they are.

been trying to take photos of them...they are very fast, look little white cotton and lots of tiny legs and they curve when they scoot along the glass. Like the live food you can get which I dont cos they look too cute. like little centipedes...sea monkeys or something...sorry I am not much help

planeria..or something just read another post...can I feed them to me bettas?

Planeria are thin small white worms that wriggle about in the water, ive never seen them sit on the glass. Planeria are harmless if a tad anooying to see. Generally they come from over feeding etc as they need something to survive on, usually excess food in either then tank or the filter.

I put a lettuce leaf in last night to catch the snails..didnt work...just been and looked and theres loads of the blighters...worms prob. snails as well.

It doesn't sound like planeria or worms...they don't have legs  . But if it is then yes they are harmless unless you have fish eggs. I have some in a 5 gal next door and they are on the glass, though they are pretty distinctive and they don't have legs -_- .
