Has anyone seen tiny white bugs on the top of the water in their aquarium? I have two very tiny white bugs that seem to bounce around on top of the water. I tried to catch them but they are elusive. I am beginning to think I am hallucinating... :-( Any ideas would be helpful. The tank is just over two months old. Everything else is fine, all levels are good and so is the temperature of the water. Just not sure what those little guys are.

I googled and found this... hope it helps...

"There are tiny white-ish brown critters crawling near the water line and even bouncing off the surface of my aquarium. How do I get rid of them?

These sound like either spingtails or mites. They are harmless, but unsightly. To get rid of them completely it is often necessary to break down the aquarium and rinse the tank, tops, and filtration with saltwater. "

"One white species lives on the surface of ponds and streams can be found in drinking water from cisterns or wells. They also can occur around floor drains, in damp basements, and crawl spaces. Masses of these insects can be swept up and discarded."

Hope your not filling your tank with toilet water!

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find anything on the net but I will ask my LFS guy, he's very knowledgeable and hopefully will know.

No toilet water, I put the blue pucks in so wouldn't put in the fish tank.

I have had them for quite some time. Doesnt seem to bother the fish. Perhaps even provides them a meal sometimes ;)

Are the fish flicking and rubbing against objects, as mine have gill flukes and i'm treating them at the moment, well last night one of my platys flicked itself on an ornament then I saw this little translucent thing swimming in the water so i netted it out.

Wilder, the things in my tank skip on the water and I havent seen any underwater.
