As my aquarium is aging I'm quite facinated by all the new microscopic creatures appearing within this thriving ecosystem. Small white organisms barely noticable by the naked eye except for the fact that they're grouped together collecting on the surface around the bio-balls (larvae?), bugs not much bigger but dark crawling on the insides of the glass only seem to appear when I do a water change. But the latest are what look like snails, the biggest I've seen so far is barely an 8th of an inch but they're multiplying fast. Fortunately the Cichlids seem to be keeping them under control. But how did they get there? I haven't introduced anything new into the tank in over 3 months. I suppose they could be related to the white dealies in my filter.
