i was looking at one of my tanks yesterday and noticed a cluster of tiiny white worm things
which definately DON'T look good
they're teeny, barely a millimetre, about half a millimetre i'd say, and move quick, they were in a cluster in that tank
i looked at all my other tanks and found 2 in another
out of the 4 tanks, only 2 seem to have them, but i wouldn't be surprised if they turned up in the other 2 as i've only just noticed them.

how do i get rid of these before they do some drastic damage? what are they?

can't get a pic, the macro on my camera isn't that good.

after shreading google for info, i found out that they may be planaria, 90% sure i think. will gut my tank tonight and change the old gravel (largish white gravel and too deep) for new gravel (smaller natural gravel) that should do it.

Yes over feeding, lack of maintance, plus also can be due to high ammonia reading, yes do a gravel vac and water change, good luck.

I have the same problem in my 10 gal. that I am fishless cycling. Are these just due to the high ammonia? I put about a half a drinking straw full (7 - 12 drops) every day since last Saturday. I used old established filter media, so I would have figured I'd be done about now... the ammonia I use is 10%. Will these dissapate after the ammonia is gone?

i had a dead snail, i think that's what did it
i took the snail out of course and did a water change, can't see as many around.

apart from brown algae, the 5 gal tank is quiet clean, cleaned once a week without fail, i only have 1 betta in it and he eats the food before it hits the water! i feed him one pellet at a time, i don't dump and go.

i've added 2 small ramshorns to clear up my algae

but i'm going to blame the dead snail. planaria like dead meat!
