Hey everyone, I'm new as you can see, but I have had fish for a long time, since I was really young.
Well, i'm in college now, so i've decided to buy a 5 gallon aquarium. When the time came to buy fish, I had always loved Tiger Barbs, as they are full of energy and look awesome, so I bought a small school of 5. Well, I have had them for about 4 days now, and last night, they apparently killed my Pleco. I have never heard of Barbs attacking Plecos before.....has anyone else had this problem. If Plecos won't work, is there any other kind of algae eater fish that will?

That tank is way to small for tiger barbs and a plec, plec are big waste producers, plus tiger barb need a 25gal tank, as they are aggressive fish and need room to move, the reason they are attacking is because the tank is way to small.

oh, ok. In the past, i've had them before and they never attacked my Armored Catfish. I guess I will just leave the Barbs by themselves then?

A 5 gallon tank is too small to handle the waste of the tiger barbs, let alone their activity levels and potential aggression. A betta is not quite the only alternative in a tank that size, but you are really going to be very limited.
