Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on in a while, I recently bought a few new fish, which consisted of one molly, one platy, and 2 small tiger barbs. I also have guppies, ghost shrimp, a mystery snail, and a betta in the tank. I have heard that tiger barbs are semi-aggresive. I have not observed this behavior yet. Should I start to be concerned?

I don't think that set up will work for long.  Tiger barbs get big and are a schooling fish so you will need more.  They are aggressive and may kill the smaller fish and almost certainly the shrimp and snail.

Well it definitely won't work with just 2 tiger barbs. I can tell you that it most likely will not work but I always like to give things a try. I would up the tigers to at least 6 and see if it works. However MAKE SURE you have a back up tank for the other fish and invertebrates if you plan on going this route. Also, lots of places to hide via plants, rocks, decorations, driftwood, etc. will always help. Good luck!

Thats a ticking time bomb.

Tiger barbs are nippy, they will nip at the bettas fins as well as the guppies if they are the long tailed variety.

The betta will soon mistake the guppies for another betta and try to kill them.

Seeing your tank is a 10g, it will soon be overrun by fry. It is also too small for tiger barbs and the molly. Would take them back ASAP

well, my dad started with 4 tiger barbs, upped it to 8 in a 75g tank, they schooled like piranha, and ate the eyes from one of his angelfish, had that not happened, he would have 2 angelfish about 6 inches long, instead of 1, he had to take them out and put the barbs in a 20 gal bow tank by themselves ,

I agree that if you want to keep the barbs it would be wise to set up another tank
