i already lost 2 tiger barbs..:( one of my albino tiger barbs is just "floating" around and he has this red mark on his fore head and the other albino barbs has a red mark on his side. anyone know or experience this before? and my other 2 regular tiger barbs look really shiny?? i think that dis is work of my 2 chinease algae eaters but the red marks on my 2 albino barbs? can my caes cause this?

Chinese algae eaters are known to become aggressive. So that's what the red marks may be from but it is hard to say. Also the shininess could be velvet. velvet would look like your fish was sprinkled with gold flecks.

Is there any way you can get a picture up?

velvet?acually they look like silver flecks not gold but right on the spot. i just lost one of my albino barbs:( so i cant get a pic and i just got rid of the algae eaters,..Is velvet really serious?i had rid ick medicine, will that help them?

Take a look at these to sites below. One has descriptions only of the signs of sickness and the other has pictures and descriptions. See if you can find something in there that is close to it.

oh .....when you say silver...does it look like there is salt on your fish???

Something like this?

no it doesnt look like that..i heard that caes like to suck the slime off the fish coating..i think that, that is what im seeing with my fish..my fish color has faded and the blacks stripes look greenish now..u ever experience this?

Yes i have heard that the CAE's suck the slime coating off fish. I have one now who about a week ago started doing that to my fancy goldfish. And well you can bet those two got split up and quick! Try adding stress coat or if you have something similar to that and see if that will help them out for now.

However I have never experienced the fish having stripes turn to green. My thought might be that this fish is stressed.

ok well thank u for all ur help:) i gave them aquarium salt so hopefully that will help them get better:)
