Being a begginer in tropical fish keeping, my girlfriend introduced 8 tiger barbs the day after she setup her new tank. 2 days later the smallest one died, and the day after (last night) the other died. I have noticed that they dont seem to be real active and they are just floating their with their heads pointing downwards....Any advice on trying to keep these fish alive?
Thanks in advance

give the surviving ones to someone else or take them back until the tank has been cycled. im sure other members can offer you advice on cycling as they know more about it. i set my tank up and leave it running for up to a month, putting some food in on a regular basis (no fish, mind) to increase pollution therfore increasing bacteria. then add maybe a couple of small fish to start or a very small shoal.
just out of interest, how big is the tank?

8 Tiger Barbs are unsuitable for that tank. As mentioned you need to cycle the tank, this creates bacteria in the water (good for fish)

Once done you need to pick suitable fish, Tigers are not on that list im afraid. You should be looking at Tetra's etc.

If i transfer these sick fish to my Aquarium, will it effect my fish at all?

It shouldn't. They are dying because they're being poisoned by their own waste, not because they are sick with anything.

OK i'll shove them into my tank and see if they recover...Thanks for the help
