[This Old Spouse]

This is one of my tiger barbs who has a sore on his side. It's been there for months and doesn't seem to affect him in any way. Does anyone have any idea why it won't go away or what it is?

Reading from your sig, maybe one of the crabs got hold of it? Not sure really, you could try treating it in a seperate tank for a few weeks with a drop of Melafix. Maybe up the water changes to see if a more pure water will help it.

Definately looks like he's scuffed against something or been nipped. Doesn't look serious, and taking the fact you said he's been like it for a while and is still healthy he should be fine.

Just keep the water conditions ok and it should heal itself. Maybe he's just scarred for life!
