This isn't really an emergency - but I guess it might turn into one. I bought three green tiger barbs yesterday to go with my existing four stripey ones. They were in a tank in the lfs packed full of frantically swimming fish - and were still very lively in the bag.

What I didn't notice, until I got home, was that one of them had most of his tail missing (really must wear my glasses more :D ). He has about 5cm left. It doesn't look infected. He's still very lively and the others don't seem to be picking on him too much (apart from the usual tiger barby stuff).

Should I treat the tank to stop infection setting in? Or just hope that good conditions and a calmer life will allow it to regrow?

There are pearl and zebra danios and chain loaches in the tank too.

Any advice appreciated thanks.

dont worry I had that happen to me when I bought a angel fish, its top anal, and tail fin had been damaged and or missing. Itll grow back in a couple of weeks.

OK Thanks.

The "cut off" edge has now turned white. Not sure whether that's good or bad. Doesn't look cotton wooly or anything and he still looks perfectly happy.
