Hi guys

Ive just noticed that one of my tiger barbs has had its tail fin complety bitten off all he has now is as stub where his fin should be
What can i / should i do??

Do these fins grow back or am i going to have to put the lil blighter down?

Quick replys much sought after as i'm very worried.

He is feeding ok and is still quite active just obv not as fast as anything else

As long as it doesn't get infected, I think it should be fine. It happened to one of mine a while ago (over a year actually), and after a period of nothing happening, the tail started to grow back - but it is a slow process.

If the fish is struggling to swim sad to say no he won't make it as he will get exhausted and weak.
Melafix if he's swimming ok.

I know this isn't very helpful, but have you any idea what took the poor guy's tail.

Got a feeling it was another fish but dont know who.

He's doing ok still feeding as norm and even pushing the other fish outt he way to make sure he gets some food :)

Good luck to the little guy, hope is does ok

I think it might be inter tiger fighting as the lil sod yes still minus his tail is off trying to attack the other slightly bigger tigers....You gotta love his determination

I think it probably is the other tiger barbs - they sometimes gang up on one or two fish for some reason. I don't know how to stop it. I tried keeping two of mine in another tank for a while and the fins grew back - but the minute I put them back in the main tank they got picked on again. The answer is probably to keep more than six of them - but not always possible!

Fingers crossed it just grows back!

I was going to get a group of 10 or more green tigers but a little worried now

Ive found the culprit and jeez was it a surprise.

The fish with the taste for fins is..................................................

The clown loach

The clown loach thinks its a tiger barb more each day.

I thought after mr loach's friends died after a bad case of whitespot that he would be veyr shy and never come out and basically be depressed but this thing rules the tank, n jeez will it ever stop clicking lol.

The tank is too small for clown loaches, plus he won't be happy on his own as they have to be kept in groups to be happy.
