My tiger barb has been completely fine until after he ate today and started having what looks like a seizure. He is swimming around vertically with his nose towards the bottom and tail near the top and is shaking nonstop. I hoped that the shaking would stop by the time I came back home a few hours later, but it is still happening. I feel really bad for it and have no idea what is going on. Any help?

Do your barbs eat from the water surface, or do you sink the food for them? I have a couple of elderly tigers that do this if they gobble flake and swallow a lot of air at the same time.

the one that was having the problem is the fatty of the group so he pretty much eats the food off the surface before it even has a chance to sink. he has since then gone back to normal -- took him about 15 hours to stop shaking, but seems fine now

Lol, yeah, there's the problem; tigers are greedy little so-and-so's! You can soak the food for a little bit (it only needs minute or two) in a small pot of tank water before you add it to the tank; that should help stop it happening too often :good:
