I got a 28g tank and it's been running a while now and I'm ready to add fish. I really want tiger barbs but I don't know how big of a group they should be kept in. I don't want them to be in too small of a group and start getting nippy with the other fish. My plans for other fish are 4 glass catfish, 2 female convicts, and 1 midnight catfish. So I was wondering how many tiger barbs I have room for. I originally planned on three because space was limited, but then I heard they get nippy and aggressive. So please some help?

5-7 is said to be the magic number in hopes of preventing their tendency to fin nip

Definately six or more I think to cut down on aggression. This doesn't however guarantee that they won't fin nip. It all depends on the individual fish. I'd love to have some but I don't want to risk it with my angel. Good luck. They're a lovely fish. :good:

i agree i have 6 and they never bother my other fish including my angels
