I have 2 Flying Foxes in my Asian tank… one bigger, one smaller… they have been in the tank for well over a year, and have been living in a fully stocked tank with fish as large as Tin Foil barbs… so in the last week or two, the bigger one, has begun surfing the front glass… all the other fish are normal, including the smaller one… the only thing that’s changed in the last couple weeks, is the addition of some lizard Hillstream’s, which are similar size and shape… there hasn’t really been any interaction between them, and the smaller Fox has been totally normal, as have been all the other fish… I believe it’s eating normally…any fish psychology people want to make a guess

If the fish was newly added to the tank I would say it's exploring the aquarium and working out where the invisible barrier (glass) is. However, since the fish has been there for a year, and the only thing that has changed is the introduction of some new bottom dwellers, I would say they stressed the flying fox out and it is not happy about the new guests.

Did the new fish take over the flying fox's sleeping area or somewhere it normally went?

Do you have the smaller species of flying fox or the bigger species?
The smaller species needs to be kept in groups of 6 or more, whereas the bigger species is more solitary.

The new fish have taken up residence in the bubble waterfalls along the back of the tank, the only other regulars there, are the Reticulated, and spotted Hillstream Loaches… these Foxes are the larger variety, in fact this bigger one used to chase the smaller one into hiding… the aggression hasn’t been as bad in the last 3-4 months… I think this bigger one is full grown, at about 5 inches, and is heavy bodied… it’s always been a pig about food… it’s not really showing aggression towards anyone else, just been surfing the center of the front glass… during daylight hours, it has a hidy hole it goes to after dark

It’s been in with the Tin Foils, and the pink Gourami since they all were little... front & center is the Fox in question... one of the lizard Hillstreams on the back of the tank can be seen above the top right Tin Foil... the lizards hang on the back, & move around occasionally the Fox on the front, almost is never still...
