This weekend's musical treat

Better late than never.

This week is another single song preformed by various artists over the years. It was written by Merle Travis and here he is performing it in 1955.

However, it was rally made famous by this guy.
Tennessee Ernie Ford | Oct 18, 1956

Tal Wilkenfeld (born 2 December 1986) is an Australian bassist, singer and songwriter. She has performed with artists including Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, Prince, Incubus, Eric Clapton, Herbie Hancock, Toto, and Mick Jagger. In 2008, Wilkenfeld was voted "The Year's Most Exciting New Player" in a Bass Player magazine readers' choice poll. In 2013, Wilkenfeld was awarded the Bass Player magazine's "Young Gun Award"

And to complete the circle, here is another solo performance by Tommy Emmanuel

Live from Daryl's House was a great series. Though I detest Hall and Oates music and I'm not fond of Mr. Hall in general, the episodes with Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick, Darius Rucker, and Ceelo Green are all really good.

The American FBI advised radio stations not to play the song 16 tons when it came out. Merle Travis was investigated for writing it. It's been a favourite of mine since my mother explained the history behind it when I was a kid.

Tim Timebomb did a semi-recent cover of it.
