when i first got the tank i (obviously stupidly :rolleyes: ) thought i could just put any fish in with what was already in the tank when i got it (platys and an adult golden loach). he was beautiful, i couldnt resist :blush:

he settled well, but claimed one corner, and was aggresive towards every fish which came near :sad: Are they all like that? Do you have to keep them in pairs? Not sure if it would be a good idea or not to try a betta again :blink:

(oh, he disappeared, literally, one day - very very odd -_-)

Some bettas simply dont like being in community tanks in my experiance. I'm no expert though

If he doesn't get along with fish in a community tank i wouldn't try him with females. Bettas tend to be solitary fish and males should NEVER be kept together.

That said each fish is different. No idea what the platys or loaches are like so cant help there.

they are a stunning fish though i wouldn't give up on them.

can pick up some nice decent sized tanks pretty cheap if it just doesnt work
