This Video Made Me Sad. :(

there was a whole thread on that video a few weeks ago, can't find it right now
but that video is a bit inaccurate, the last few pictures are from breeders fishrooms!

Yeah I read the comments. It was very inaccurate at the end but some of the pictures like the betta in the vase were very sad.

just because they are from breeders fish rooms, doesnt make it better, the fish are still kept in small containers,
i agree it doesnt do much apart from show pictures, a little information on bettas and a few facts to educate people would go well.
but other than that, atleast the person tried to do something about it, rather than sit there and say, "oh its cruel"
( not a dig at anyone that do sit there and say, how cruel, but your know)

Goddam thats bad ... I never caught that first time round but jeez thats bad. I've never liked bowls and wherever I work whether the shop sells bowls or not I WILL NOT SELL A BOWL TO ANYONE FOR ANY FISH sorry to those of you who have fish in bowls but I just don't agree with them.

Seeing as we've already had this same discussion about the same video...why not continue it there. Or get the mods to move the posts to that thread?

Is it really necessary to have this debate yet again? Everybody has different opinions about the "proper" tank size for bettas, and everybody will always disagree, so there's really no reason to have this debate time after time.

And as for the barraks that breeders use not being "right" its the only economical way for them to breed. Unless you don't want bettas to be bred and sold AT ALL anymore, there's no point in complaining about the breeders setups, because without those breeders you wouldn't have your bettas.

I feel that as long as the betta is happy and healthy, and is being fed properly, and has clean water, then tank size isn't as big of an issue as people make it seem.

there are 2 sides to every argument, just because some people think its alright to keep bettas in tiny tanks, dont mean everyone does. its the right of humans to have their say, so why not debate the topic. i think its intresting listening where breeders come from when they keep bettas in jars.every time i see a set-up with hundreds of jars, i always think to myself, the persons more bothered about having the most bettas than keeping the in proper sized tanks where they will be happier.all my bettas are in 5 gallon minmum.i have ones in 15 gallons and he does well.its peoples opinions whether bettas should be kept like that, to be honest, i dont think your post was helpful, complaining at the poster for sharing it with other members, if you dont like the topic, dont post. i have nothingt against people who think its alright keeping bettas in small cantainers, i may not like they way they keep them, but if they are polite and only make worthy points, then thats fine.the same goes for the other side.

sorry didnt realise this had already been posted. Just found it today. Found another ridiculous video of a guy who is keeping a betta in a tiny cup with a few pebbles in the bottom and trying to stroke him. His stupid yells of "here fishy fishy! AWWW he likes it!" as the betta flared at him and tried to escape in vain inside that 5 inch diameter space was frustrating.

Some of those bowls are actually relatively large I think (though, obviously, I could be mistaken as I can't see them in person). But, certainly, the cups and jars and 'betta vases' are distressing. When it comes to the breeders, most of those bettas soon get sold so it's only temporary anyway.

On the whole debate issue - I think everything is worth debating (even whether things are worth debating is worth debating :p). If threads like this educate anyone at all, it's worth it. It can't be a bad idea to bring both sides of an argument into the open and let people attack it from all directions - discussion's a good thing!

The vase actually looked one gallon-ish to me. I couldn't see the top, so I couldn't tell you for sure... there wouldn't be very much swimming room, but unless those people let the water sit in one gallons for 5 weeks, I don't think a 1g is really that bad.

(but tall tanks aren't great)

Just curious...

Am I the only one who pushes those little "betta bowls" (that are hardly half a gallon) back so other people can't see them to buy for their betta? I at least try to turn them around so they aren't as noticeable!
