I have this 55 gallon used tank. I've been working on cleaning it as you can imagine I'm getting impatient wanting to set it up and get it going. Anyway, I have scrubbed it down with only hot water and a scrub brush. The one side of it, however, still looks gross. The best way I can describe it is it looks like how those shower doors get when they haven't been cleaned in forever. Looks like water spots everywhere.
Any ideas how to get rid of this and get a clean tank? Could I use one of the spray cleaners and then rinse, rinse, rinse.....??

I have used HCL, from the chemist, just very deluded, but oven cleaner works the best, I know its got some chemical in that is harmful the fish, the ozone, the whales , some wild life, and stuff but it works. just rinse the tank after you cleaned it. I have used stuff for cleaning kettle element, but takes to long to clean

YES, I agree with the razors. Man have they saved me some srubbin'time on that darn green algae that WON'T come off no matter how hard you scrub.

Never tried vinegar, never had to, but if they say it works......then by'gollie it WORKS!!!

Good Luck!! :D

I tried the vinegar approach--no luck.
So I bought an algae sponge type thing from the fish store--no luck.

I guess I'll go back and try a chemical made specifically for fish tanks.

I haven't tried the razor blade. I can see where it would be good for algea, but this is more of a water stain.??
Thanks.
