This may sound really stupid, but do all livebearers get the gravid spot? provided they're a lighter color.

I have a light orange colored swordtail, and I see some black spots in her tummy and shes looking fatter. Didn't know if only guppies got the gravid spot.

I'd love to have some babies, but there's no room in the tank. So I will probably leave them to fend for themselves unless the lfs would agree to take fry.
 
Just wanted to mention that for lighter colored livebearers, maybe including yours, the gravid spot might not be very apparent. My yellow female platy doesn't really get a gravid spot. I have to watch closely for eyes! Also, I can usually shine a light at the right angle and see the babies in her - they're not dark, but usually orange.

I find all my females have visible gravid spots, weither they're half black or regular coloured female, as this picture shows:
