what exactaly is needed for keeping betas and what equipment should i have tank size, filter(are they needed?) what food is reccomened, and how many should i keep and what sexes? someone help me out here. betas are awesome but yet i know nothing about them...... thanks alot

You need a 1 gallon or more (no less) tank, and hgh quality food. If your room gets below 75F you'll need a heater.

Males MUST be alone, ALWAYS. Females can be in groups, assuming you have at LEAST 10 gallons, and you can not have more then 6 or LESS then 4 in a 10 gallon.

Without filtration, you'll need to do 90% water changes once a week

Read the care articles posted at the top of the forum ^___^

**EDIT** Personally I prefer Hikari brand betta food, though I hear the chiclid chow from Hikari is good for bettas too. I also feed frozen bloodworms every other day.

Personally, I would not keep a betta in less then 2.5 gallons, with lots of real plants... The bigger the better.

Well first of all you can house females together they can be kept in a community tank with other fish. I have never tried with the males to keep them with other fish begore,I have seen it done I just didnt want to take a chance on having thier beautiful fins ripped apart.. You will need a gallon tank or bigger I like to keep thier tempature around 78 degrees myself. You cant keep two males together. They sale those small betta tanks with everything you need at walmart. I think they are around twenty dollars...
