I have recently moved around 100 guppies of all sizes to my 55gallon tank.

This is driving me nuts, if i had to feed my guppies 1 flake each..that'll be 100 flake perday, i have a jar of crushed flakes, they were used to feed my baby guppies, they are no longer babies, they are alittle bit more than 1inch long, around 70 of them, and 30 of them are frys.

The frys dont dare to go up to the top, so they wait to eat the flakes while they are in mid air, the flakes usually are all eaten up before this time. All the fry stay at the left side of the tank, and the adults, everywhere. currently i feed the large flakes on the right side and crushed flakes on the left side. And then i add 3 hikari warfers, or nutrafin ...warfers.

And i am moving in 5 days, i have to scoop up 100 guppies, oh boy i cant wait.

Do you have any solutions for me? How am i suppose to feed all of them? It's gonna cost me alot of $$..100 flakes per day..and no i aint gonna sell them.

there aint really a solution mate i have had same probs with my tank..... had to bag all fish up and take to lfs......... took me soooooo long to catch all the bloody things esp silver tipped tetras they are so fast! :kana:

"Dedicated breeders for dedicated homes" why not sell them to good homes, the only real problem is shipping in the UK :(

I would much prefer to buy from a local person that has bred the fish and taken great care of them, than from a shop that has imported and are coming in with parasites and disease.

As for the solution it looks like you'll be buying another tank soon ;)

well here is a thought -----> http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=101277

:D i'm sorry i couldn't resist.

To be honest...

I dont trust other people's fish keeping skills. I've had 2 guppies out of 100+ died in one year.

I dont know if other people can do that and i miss my guppies too much, they were in 2 10Gs, but then i let them in my 55G. I love my fish too much, not many fish keepers can keep their fish like me or love their fish like me, call me nuts if you want. :)

Oh and if i were to sell my guppies to someone to feed their pet...i would rather eat them myself!!! just joking, but no way i'd do that. :p

How do the fry survive? I have an all guppy tank and I never have ANY fry survive, enless I catch them RIGHT after they are born and seperate them. It sucks, most people don't want tons of guppies, but I wouldn't mind! I don't have any luck buying them from the store, $4 a guppy is too much to spend when they last only a few months. I've had luck raising one batch so far, only 3 though. They seem to be a lot hardier if I breed them myself.

My guppies NEVER eat the fry, maybe a few chase here and there. The reason is very simple, all of my guppies are raised from frys, WITH frys, since growing up, they have been living with frys, guppies of all ages/sizes, i would never buy any guppies because i dont think they are "trained" like my guppies.

i have around 40+ frys and roughly 100+ adults, i dont even think the fry counts really, there all over the place, there is not ONE spot in my tank without a guppy near it.

I don't have any solutions, so all I can give you is my sympathy
This is why I don't keep livebearers! 100 guppies is a whole freakin' lot!

well, all of my guppies ARE fry....just grown up fry, and they are having fry.( :S )

Maybe i should feed my guppies to my turt..but..i can NEVER do that, i just cant, way too cruel

To be honest..as if now, the 100 doesnt seem like a hundred, i'll show you 50 of my guppies from my 10G...

See the last pic, which is 50 guppies in a 10G, this was before they were moved to the 55G obviously :)

i think u should just seperate all the females out and give them to the lfs then they wont multiply and will all die naturally in a few months

All of the people on this forum are babies, just grown up (some more than others) But reffering to all of you as babies really doesn't help. Reffering to the adults as adults is the way to do it, thats why we have the terms adult and fry, to distinguish between the two groups, Adult litterally means grown up young one. However, seporating your adults male from female will be the only solution if you wont sell them or use them as feeders, that and don't make such an effort to feed the fry, they should be ablke to figure out to go were the fod is, and if you feed them less they wont breed as fast. if you seporate the males from the females you still have to deal with 3-4 months of fry, but once those are done you are home free. Atleast with bunny rabits they are edible.

Who says guppies aren't edible?
