Thinking Of Trying To Plant My Brackish Tank

been into aquariums for a while now but never got into the live plant stage..

my friend that keeps TONS of plants in his room and is his hobby said he even had a hard time keepin aquarium plants live and healthy.

so i figure i probly wil fail but i would like to try to get some lively looking plants in my puffer tank.

what are some plants you could suggest i start with that dont require to much special attention?

I would try java fern and various species of Anubias. Hornwort might be worth a try too. All have very tough leaves - though in different ways

im very new to keeping live plants.. do i need a special bottom for them or can i just buy them and stick them under my gravel ..
