I don't think metal halides come in 6500 but I could be wrong. If I had the option, I would definately go with metal halides, IMO, they're the closest you'll get to replicating an ideal lighting situation for any plant. As long as you add CO2, I would expect nothing but growth. I knew a guy who had MH and he didn't have the least bit of algae for some reason, that and the plants grew beautifully. If it weren't for dealing with the heat dissipation, I would already have MH installed myself. You can also install suspended MH fixtures, I think open top tanks look awesome :nod:

edit: he was using 10 000K, it looked like regular daylight and the colors were nice too
 
you can get 6500 halides, ive just looked to make sure.

imo dont think 10,000K would penetrate better, i know blue light does but thats after a metre or 2, not 2 foot of water.

The pendants/luminaires do look absoltely amazing but the cost heaps, for a luminaire with 2 250 watt halides your look at about £700
