Thinking of getting a female betta soon

Hi, I was thinking of buying a female betta soon and maybe try breeding it with my male. I've been looking at some lfs but there is only one so far that I can find them at and there is a group of a bout 60 + in a 30 us gal tank!!!! They are all beat up, each one.... i feel sorry for them. Anyway I was wondering if they are more difficult to keep than male bettas??

Nope, Male and Female bettas use the same care. Only thing I will say is females tend to be jumpy. So make sure she can't jump out from anywhere. Good Luck with finding a female. They are really active little thinngs.

i got totally addicted to the girls.... as much as the males

yea.. theyre basically the same care... i do keep all mine with heaters tho... but aslong as ur house isnt too cold u should be fine... good luck with breeding them.. im tryin now but nothings happened yet lol..

the 60 in the 30 gallon tank is rough yes... my lfs had like 30 in a 20 gallon tank and more than 1/2 of the females were messed.... i got the only ones that were ok from there... cleaned them out of the good ones lol.. the fins will grow back.. but i wouldnt buy then unless they cheap ! messed finnage = discount !! maybe theyll give u a deal? who knows.. i got mine for $2 CDN each so i was happy

WOW! the ones i saw were like $4.97ea CND and they werent just missing fins, some had whole chunks of their body missing!
I should tell them to give me two and throw in all the medication ill need to nurse them back to health...
