I'm a beginner, but am already thinking bout getting another small tank to put my platy fry in before they're eaten - plus I don't have room for any survivors anyway. Don't have much space at all for another tank - any suggestions please?

10 gals are best for raising fry in.

Not sure, you could try and find a second hand one, in newpapers, online.

Yes if thats all you can fit, but ten gallons are better as they are far more forgiving with water quality, as you have to feed fry alot so the water soons get polluted.

Will give it some more thought then, thank you. How often would i need to feed the fry?

Ask in livebearers, long time since i had fry, it can be up to several times aday i think.

Where I live a starter tank 10 gal is about $30. U.S. at Walmart. It commes with a tank, hood and light bulbs, heater, and filter
