I am going to attempt to raise discus in the near future.

I have a 55 gallon tank that currently holds 12 neons, 4 corys and 4 ghost shrimp. It is a new tank about 1 month old (i used mature media to speed up the cycling.) I also have 2 Whisper EX 45 (480 ghp)...
This tank is also planted. I want to have the vegetation grow out for the next 2 months. I am practicing with 20% water change per week.

To this tank i want to add 4 x 2inch discus...

What is your opinion on this plan...

Thank you for any advice you might give

General advise is no less than 5 discus, and no less than 10G per discus.

So, you should consider 1 more, and then you would need to look at your stocking.

Agreed, 5 Discus minimum, which should be fine in the 55G, (mature Discus may eat the neons though)

I would also personally look to get larger Discus, at 2 inches in size you will need to be doing multiple daily feeds and multiple weekly water changes due to the fact that small Discus can easily become stunted
