so the last couple of days i had noticed sapphire sitting on the bottom of the tank not doing much, and hiding from the other girls. but i had assumed it was due to the move upsetting the pecking order in the tank, but today i found her on the bottom of the tank with no stomach!
i was inspecting the others and a few of them were trailing solid waste and one of them was flicking occasionally, so i thought it might be parasites.
any advice on what meds to use (i am in the UK) and opinions on whether it is parasites, or something else would be greatly welcomed.

also one of the girls (princess) has what looks like a growth of some kind on her top lip (looks kind of like a mole) its a pale peach colour, is this likely to be due to the same cause? or a symptom of something else?

Long stringy white poo can be a number of things from constipation, bacterial, to internal [parasites.
Flicking can be bad water quality, to parasties, so need water stats.
Is the growth on the lip pink or defianately peach.

Signs of internal parasites are.
Long stringy white poo, or clear.
Red inflamed or enlarged anus.
The fish can look bloated or thin.
Worms prutruding from the anus.

Thanks for the quick response :good:

the poo isn't really long and stringy, just a few mm hanging there and its an orangy colour same as the food i give them not white.

water stats:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5-10
PH 7.5
Temp 78

the growth on the lip, which i have decided looks more like a wart is more orangy than her body, which is pink which is why i said a kind of peachy colour, but i suppose it subjective really. she seems to have a spot of the same colour at the base of her dorsal fin too.

none of the fish look particularly bloated, but a couple of them are quite thin.
no sign of anything strange about the anus that i can see. i fasted them yesterday, but one of the smaller ones (Jasmin) has started doing the hiding and sitting on the bottom thing. she also looks quite pale, although she is a cambodian so its a little hard to tell. her fins look more washed out than usual though.

several of them are looking a lot more ragged than usual, which i had put down to the move, but i'm now wondering if i have another male in there? i have already isolated 1 because the anal fin looked quite long and pointy and the tail looked a little larger than usual, but i'm not completely sure. and i keep seeing signs of bubblenesting in the tank. never very large and don't tend to last long, so could be a girl doing it.

everything was going so well at the last house! i really want them to be ok.

Jasmin is dead :-(

no obvious symptoms, she had been hiding from the other girls in the riccia at the surface and sitting on the bottom. i noticed her getting chased a few times, maybe slightly paler than usual? but thats it! nothing major,
she was alive and swimming about this morning and then i went and checked just now and found her unmoving on the bottom of the tank. she was curled round to the side slightly, her body was in a sort of C shape. don't know if thats relevant or not, she was stiff in that position.

really worried i'm gonna lose my whole sorority, please help.

also eden, who is in my spawning tank at the moment seems to be resting on the bottom of the tank a lot and tail standing, so i'm really worried that she has whatever it is too. she was in a setup with water flow between several small tanks while i was conditioning her. so she may have passed something on to several of the others too :-( :(

You have a bacerial infection in your tank.
The spots on the fish just make sure they don't look like a small egg shape.
Being skinny can be fish tb, internal parasites, to old age, some parasites can make fish skinny like velvet and flukes.

what medication would you recommend i use to treat it?

and what does it mean if the spots are egg shaped? don't think they are, but its a bit difficult to tell especially with the one on her lip.

Anti internal baceria med by interpet.
The spots if they don't look like a berry I wouldn't worry.
