I would love to get a few more german blue rams for my 125gal tank, but not sure if they would work with what's in there right now.

It currently has 4 giant danio, 6 rainbowfish, 9 varying colored tiger barbs, 2 rosy barbs, 2 plecos (one is 9-10inch, the other around 4-5), a BGK, around 10 or so cory and 7 clown loaches.

The tank is planted w/ 3 medium to large pieces of wood.

So, would german blue rams be ok in this tank? Just looking for something with some personality and color. PEaceful but able to take care of itself.
If it would be ok, then how many?

Size wise you could probably get them in there - anyone know about this aspect..?

Im not sure if with the clown loaches (Which will get huge by the way!) and the plecco's the bioload of the tank may be a bit on the high side. What filtration have you got on there?

Also - for german blues you need to keep a real good water quality going. They need specific conditions that you may not be able to achieve or maintain. Have a quick google session to see what water parameters (hardness, pH, temperature) are needed for each of your fishies to be hapiest. You may find some are already being pushed a little out of comfort.

Filter is a fluval FX5. Pretty good filtration. I do water changes in the tank about every week to every week and a half.

I have a german blue in my 29gal tank that is doing just fine, but just wasn't sure if a few in my larger tank would work, especially w/ some of the tankmates.

My clown loaches aren't very big yet. One of them is reaching the 5 inch mark and is getting wider, but they grow very very slowly, so I'm not worried about them getting too large for any other fish any time soon.

Hmm, I dunno though. Still debating if a few would be ok in the tank or not.

Substrate? The temperature that Blue Rams do best at are outside of that of some of the inhabitants...

Substrate is a mixture of sand and ecocomplete (plant substrate)

Temp of the tank sits around 80, no higher than that.

Depends on the softness and nitrate of your water, rams do need soft, low nirate water if they're not to fade away after a few months.
