Thin Tank.........cycling :)

The pictures with your family pitching in are quite wonderful. It was obviously an "adventure" day for the whole family. This tank will be a lot of fun while you figure out exactly what lighting, inhabitants, plants etc. work for it. I look forward to hearing about it's progress.

Anyone any thoughts on what would be suitable for the bottom (or as an algae eater for the sides of the tank).......

.....Emma has taken a liking to some baby bristlenoses at our lfs..........
I'd go for otos (otocinclus affinis) as your bottom dwellers,
they will help with algea.

I showed that my mum saying isn't it good, her reply...

How will he clean the window :/

 I said who cares :shifty:

Oooh, Otos look good..........how many do you think would be appropriate
I'd go for at least 5, but be warned they are very sensative and have a habbit od dying for no apparent reason. These would be the last fish to add, once the tank has been running for at least 6 weeks.
Don't be put off by this, thay are well worth the time and patience. :D

Wow It Looked so Different on Ebay.

It looks Wonderful and will make the Kitchen Really Cool.

I think Neons and Harleys are perfect for it.

eep! It must be a mum thing.... I'm a mum and that's what I thought to!

Looking good :D :D

Glad you went for it!

I'd go wit 3 bristle noses as they are a lot easier to keep than otos

We're down to one oto now - from 6... and the tank is fine :dunno:

our bristle noses are a great lively fish - and they will keep the kids happy when they have litle bristlenose babys :p

oh and i'm sure your son will love the males 'ugly' bristles! :D

I'd go with panda or pygmy(dwarf) cories for the bottom. Pandas only get to 1" so there would be PLENTY of room for them to turn around.

Cheers Ben.......as Elizabeth said.......the space was almost made for it.....

.....for some reason the previous owners of our house had a small row of spotlights installed behind the curtain (above the tank)....

.....they shine just nicely down into the tank....... :D :D

Although I will have to keep an eye on the greenery........I am not sure if they won't need a little more light.

Ottos and cories would be great, maybe 4-5 of each :)

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed the second page :p

I saw this on ebay also and thought, Where the hell could you put that, Well looks like you found a great spot. Who knows the kids may want to do the washing up more often now  . 1 thing i would do is add an airstone, there is not a lot of surface area for the size of the tank. Good luck and keep us posted.

Looking very nice, Reakony uo need a few bits of bog wood to finish it off!!

How are you filtering it?

I realised we have a skinny tank like that at my work. Someone got it made really skinny and bout3ft long but never came back for it, it's all wrapped up fresh from the makers still!!

....Paul.......go on.........get it......YKIMS.......

Who agreed with the Bristlenoses.........Emma has just demanded them now.... ........we will just have to see..... .

Shiro......we'll think about the airstone.....still in the throes of setting it up though.......

The tank came with a grid along the bottom which was some sort of UGF.

We just bought the uplift pipes and stuck an airline with a stone on down each.

Other filters would not have fitted into the tank.........that would have left us with the option of external filtration.......and finances are very, very tight....

200W heater purchased and in.........water at 26 degrees.

Some gravel from the other tank in........here we go....... :D
