Hi there.
I have a 20 gal tank with six guppies and two platies. A few weeks ago I finished treating for ick. My tank was badly infected so for the first week I treated with nox ick. After it became obvious that it was not working I asked my local fish shop for advice. By this time the platy that is currently very thin had developed a white fungus on her tail. My local pet shop advised me to use fungus cure, that contained victoria green B for the ick.

The ick disappeared from my tank. The female that is thin had it the worst. She had it so bad that her scales were sticking out away from her body. She survived and her scales still don't look quite right but I think that its because she was so infected its going to take a while to heal. She was so bad that she was no longer eating and she was unable to keep herself upright and kinda floated with the currents. SOME How she pulled through but she is very thin. She eats and everything but she goes for the food slowly and not enthusiastically like my other fish do. I was wondering if she has parasites??
Has anyone ever came across this problem before??

My parameters are off right now due to all of the frequent water changes and removing of the carbon for a few days.
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 1.0
Nitrate 10
p.H 7.4

How long has the tank been set up as you have a nitrite reading.

Immediate water change and increase aeration.

Did you lose weight due to not eating.

What does it look like when she goes to the toilet.
is her anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Any worms prutruding from the anus.
Is her belly sunken in.
Is her spine bending.
Does she swim on her side.

Well I can't say I've lost any weight due to not eating but when I had the ick my platy wasn't eating.
She was swimming on her side when I was treating for ick but since I've battled the ick problem she hasn't been. She has been excreting fine as far as I can tell. I've had my tank set up since the end of July, however my boyfriend decided it was a good idea to feed the fish by dumping food form the jar into the tank as well I pretty much had to re-cycle my tank when I was dealing with ick because I for a while I was changing the water quite frequently. I noticed the nitrite spike on thusday. Immediately I did a 50% H2O change but it was still at 1.0. Last night I did another water change and it had dropped to 0.25 ppm.

Back to the thin female platy she is thin right behind her pectoral fins. You can notice it most distinctly when you view her from the top. She is the only one that is like this. I really wonder if its parasites because when I had ick I got paranoid that the snail was introducing parasites to my tank, and also I didn't want to have an infestation. So being a kind hearted person I didn't kill it and put it in its own bowl. I pulled out plants that were dying due to the medication and put it in with the snail. All the water came from the tank that was in with the snail. I was looking at the snail last night and noticed that there were little hair like things suspended in the water they were white but you could tell they were parasites because they moved. This was in the snail bowl. Is it possible that while my platy was sick she became infected by worms? But she was the only one like this.

What's your location.
The plants will need steralising before you add them back to the tank.
Whitespot can leave without a host but steralise them just to be on the same side.

So no white stringy poo, or clear mucas poo, or red poo.

I was taking another look at my platy tonight and her excretions are fine. I can't notice any inflammation around her anal pore, and her feces look normal. However with further inspection it looks like the white head of a zit on her abdomen more toward her front. Any significance??

Can you issolate and try a bacterial med.
Any redness to the zit.
