I have a weird thick algae covering everything in my tank. I cleaned it off, and it grew back. Im running a 60W light in my 30 gallon tank for 10hrs a day. I have been lazy and stopped putting my Flourish Excel in, so that might be the problem. What kind of algae could this be? Any solutions?

Thanks

if its a dark and slimy sheet-like algae that grows back REALLLLY fast, it is blue green algae (bga)...im currently battling this myself...try decreasing the lighting period to arou nd 7-8 hours a day...just keep scraping it off of everything and doing water changes...and keep dosing!!!! if indeed it is bga and the above treatment doesnt work...consider blacking out the tank.
someone more knowledgeable in the realm of plants and algae will be along to elaborate, im sure, but mine is getting better, albeit after weeeeeeeks of battle...it will not win this war  ...
good luck!

It looks exactly as you described. Ill try all that out and see what happens. Thanks

It was caused because you stopped dosing ferts and carbon into the tank.

For black green algae, you need to complete a blackout for about 4 days, otherwise it'll just come back.
Dose before covering, specifically increase NO3 levels before the blackout. It's also best to clean off every visible sign before doing the blackout.
