They've gone and done it!

That sucks!

Ah, well, at least the male and the female came out intact without learning to hate each other.

Bummer!
Surely they'll go right at it again, especially after all of that caviar

The male is already back to work on his nest, so I'm sure they'll have more eggs soon. I'm actually kind of relieved, what with already having one batch of fry and all. Not that I wouldn't be up to it mind you, it's just a lot of work.
The female is still carrying some eggs, so we'll see. The batch they laid wasn't very big so she might even still be carrying some ripe ones :)

mine did this too, next time remove both the male and the female after spawning add some meth blue and you will get almost a 89% hatch

Well that was fast. I came home from getting a haircut today and nearly had a heart attack! I saw the female floating under the nest and at first I thought she was sick/dead... then I saw the eggs falling
Another bunch of eggs... maybe they won't eat them this time. I'm not going to remove them since A) I don't have any spare tanks at the moment B ) I'm not really too keen on having two spawns at once. If they aren't eaten and hatch though, I'll take care of them :)

I had quite a surprise last night!! I thought the male had, once again, eaten all the eggs... but when I checked on them before bed I saw something peculiar right in front of his nose; then it moved and he ate it. It was a fry!!!! I guess some of the eggs were so deep in the bubbles that he (and I) missed them. I've searched the tank and found a total of 8 fry so far, and there may be others hiding. I separated them into a bowl filled with tank water and fed them some microworms. So far so good. I honestly don't have much hope for them because they just look sooo tiny and fragile right now, but you never know... my current spawn was great practice so they may very well live!

I just found two more, bringing us to a grand total of 10 :D
