I'm a bit impulsive, aren't I? She's been in the chimney for a day or two and the male was working on a bubblenest. She wasn't barred up (though not stressed) but I let her out with a net at ready. Anyway, he flared and chased her, she got stressed, but I left them for a minute to go pry a kitten off the dinner table (and I have pictures too!) and when I got back she was barred up, happy with herself. So I watched them, eventually she got a big nip out of her caudal but when I take her out I'm going to add some aquarium salt and IAL and I have some fungal meds if needed. Right bow, the male adds onto his bubblenest (which needs some work) or goes back to the female, flares, wander back to his bubblenest and she bars up and follows him, then goes back when she doesn't get her nooky. I don't suspect they'll breed tonight, it's more of just a get-her-used-to-the-male-and-make-him-make-a-bubblenest (which is working out well, since it's 3x the size it was) so anyway. I'll just leave them in the tank until I see fit, but not overnight. Currently she's just behaving normal and he's dashing over to his bubblenest the second she gives him a second look, silly guy.

edit: Just want to say, before anyone asks, they're well conditioned and I have 3 (though 2 have just been started, but all are healthy) microworm cultures going.

Well at least your boys know what they are doing mine didn't. I ended up taking the girl out....good luck let us know :good:

Just an update. All was well. I put the female back in the chimney since it was food time and I didn't want to watch them anymore. She does have a small rip on her caudal, but that's just because I think I need to switch out the fake plants because they're a bit sharp, and when I first put her in she got chased a bit, que ripping. She was adorable. If the male was working on his nest and didn't go to see her, she wandered over, looked at him from a few inches away with this "well? work faster!" expression

I put the water level in at maximum capacity because the male was not building the bubblenest. They have not been in contact for a few days. Overall, I've taken a big step back.
