I just got back from the lfs these guys were just in a misc tank. Hopefully a male and female? Also what do these guys usually go for?

The Male?

Female? did look a lot more like the fish in the first pic but when they got into the tank together turned this darker color

It looks to me like two females. The top fish may be an adolescent female and the bottom is a stressed out adult female. The colors could be an indicator of poor breeding. I say just wait it out.

Are they not suppose to be that color? The top fish is a bit smaller than the bottom. I was really hoping for a pair, they're not that common around here :/

Yep they are definately male and female. Your female has the beginnings of yellow on her top fin - males dont - also note that the end of it is transparent. Males also have an elongated body - your female is more rounded in the belly and that will get more pronounced. Once she settles down and gets some good meaty grub in her her colours will be great!

Your male is a youngster - look at his fin that runs along the top of his body - it ends in a point wheras the females is more rounded and that will elongate and become more pointed as he grows. He has not coloured up yet - give him a couple of weeks and some good meaty foods and he will be lovely.

I hope they are a pair! They are still quite small right now, but it would be fantastic if I managed to get a pair :D The only place that I know that stocks kribs regularly around here is about 50 miles away and charges 19.99 per fish.

You may be right that it is a male. But the stomach is slightly distended, like a immature female. I am not sure. But either way, if it is a male, this pair will probably not work. Kribensis females are very aggressive towards male. If the male is smaller than her, his fate is almost always sealed with death or bullying. When you look for a pair of kribs, the trick is to get the largest male and the smallest female.

I think they will be fine - the fact that they have both been put in the tank new at the same time means that neither is already dominant gives them a good chance of pairing up. My male was about the same size as my female but they got on fine and the male grew at a fast rate and is now twice the size of her.

I hope they are fine together. They are currently in a 20 long with lots hiding places and caves. After I move I plan on putting them in a 55g

I thought the red on the edge of the dorsal fin was suppose to go all the way to the end and be much pointy'er for a male. Also though egg spots on the dorsal fin indicated a female. To me both look like females... but what do I know?
