Help I've put heating on and electric far on Yes I am hot I've covered the tank but it still saying 22.
I've an autistic lad so can't get to pet shop hubby is not here until 6.30
I've lovely fish but they may die
the room is warmer than the water HELP
Panic
Its all getting too much

ok calm down, what fish do you have firstly, some will cope with much lower temps. as it is just muddling through for a few hrs you should be fine.

turn the tank lights on, wrap the tank up in a warm blanket, keep the heating up in the house. you can also do water changes with slightly hotter water, or fill up pop bottles with warm water and float them in the tank.

thats was the first things I've done its up to 24 no but yes
I have fish that need it more .

Gibbicepts red
4 bala
5 clowns loaches
5 tiger barbs
1 golden gouramis

.I have a small tank with Platy's and a samll heater would I risk losing them by adding the heater to the large tank or will it be too much to cope with it.
would less water be benificial

how many watts is the small heater and what size is the big tank, there's an element of something is better than nothing, but it could also blow your little heater and then you'd be stuck with two tanks with no heating.

no less water wouldn't help, the larger the body of water the better it will hold it's heat.

and 24 is fine for temporary so don't panic just yet.

oh and just a note, when you do geta heater on there don't set it too high straight away, just bring it up by 1oC from wherever it's got to then every couple of hrs turn it up 1oC more until you reach optimum temp. the temp going up too quickly could cause problems as well.

It's all sorted and they look as if nothing has happened and yes they are now swimming with light on. So it's solved another problem.
Long tgerm though you are right sooner or later I'll have to echange the fish.
