Fish Fanatic
I jsut need to vent, and perhaps someone here will understand my frustration. My day began with 10cm more snow than expected. This meant that my mother would be 5 hours late picking me up from University for the winter break as she got stuck behind snow plows. Since I would not be able to attend to them in 2 weeks I felt it neccessary to move my fish home with me adn set them up in an empty aquarium I had at home. 50 gallons is twice what they are used to so why not I figured. So I cleaned the tank out, found a sturdy stand to put it on, filled it up and put on the filter (I was using filter media and lots of gravel from another tank, so I had a precycled tank so to speak). Then I floated the fish in bags in the water, who were already pretty stressed out (the harlequins were white!) and let them get used to their new home. Then I heard it. At frist I thought that I was fooling myself, but then instinctively I grabbed ahold of the tank as the front pane of glass pulled away from the tank. Yes thats right, as the front pane of glass pulled away. luckily it only started with one side, but I had a feeling it was going to spread. But how do you empty a tank while holding it together? Picture it. Well, I started yelling and eventually my mother came, and emptied the tank while I held the glass together. She only had a small pitcher so this took the better part of half an hour. In all I estimate 20 gallons went on the floor and 30 went down the drain. The fish, are now in a 5 gallon tank. Thats it, the whole story.
