Well, I decided that "you can't have too much filtration", so I used UGF's in one of my 10 gallons, and in the 30 gallon (because it came with it.). They both have HOB filters, as well. So, a couple of days ago, I decided that I would unhook the UGF's, as I felt they were doing more harm than good.
Today, I'm looking at my 10 gallon that used to house my female platties (and their fry), and I saw a baby platy in the uptube of the UGF! It's a couple of months old, at least 1/2 inch (1cm) long. It's been living it's whole life under the filter plates!!! I was so shocked to see it, I can't even express.
I took off the top of the tube, so it could get out, but then it showed up in the other tube! It's obviously scared, never seen me before, so I took off the other tube top. Now, my otos are going into the tubes to clean them up. I'm worried that they will get stuck under the plates. Aargh!
So, to make a long post short, I'm never using UGF's again!!! Any thoughts??
